Gargoyle
Some VILE, EVIL person stole the gargoyle from my Halloween display. I hope it comes alive and eats them! Of course he was one of my favorite pieces... aren't they always? I got it at Target two years ago so replacing it is going to be a pain. It was relatively expensive too about $25. I don't pay much for Halloween decorations. If you see a good one some where on line leave me a message!
Any way my youngest daughter decided she'd take it's place and be my living gargoyle. isn't she ....twisted? ROFL! yup, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree...

Fun with Spider Web!

Haunted Foyer
I spent quite a while yesterday decorating the 'foyer'. So when people come in they'll get a good taste of the pirate theme and scary. It is cross between pirates of the Caribbean , and the giant spider lair from Harry Potter. So far I really like what I've done. It needs much more work. I'm going to go crazy with the 'spider webs'.
Hauling the coffin down from the attic is the next challenge. Jim made me this coffin (isn't my hubby a sweetie?) Yes some women want jewelry, I go for the Halloween props! anyway... The dining room is going to be turned into a Haunted Crypt/ buffet. I found the perfect 'bowl' at Ross's. gotta go back and get it! Why I didn't pick it up when I saw it.... Groan! I hate when I do that!
I figured I might as well get the decorations up and enjoy them for while maybe tweak them up a notch for the parties.
Happy Haunting!

Haunted Crypts
Working on some new ideas for improving the haunted crypt. 2005 and 2006 are posted below. Any suggestions would be welcome! I'd love it to be truly frightening! I'm hoping I get my corpse done in time!

Scenes from 2005 Haunted Garage the tips to make it BETTER!
The harstest thing I've found is making a realistic dummy. The hands especially have given me fits. I now have a pretty easy method for making the hands seem more real and they can hold things if they aren't too heavy. I make a "skeleton" hand out of heavy gadge craft wire or coat hangers, roll the new paper or plastic bags aound the fingers then place the glove or tape over them for the finished dummy hand. The wire makes it so you can bend the hand to hold things. This is a time consuming little project so not for every dummy. But if I'd used the method in 2005 my ghoul chewing on a leg would have been more scary. I use the same trick for legs and arms with coat hangers. Coat hangers also make good shoulders. It is easier to make a more realistic form if you have "bones" you just cover.
Another trick I've found is using 2-liter plastic pop bottles for necks on dummies. the stiffness keeps the head up. I just cut the top off to the length I need.
I've found the making a oval ball of newspaper covered with a plastic bag taped makes a great head to put a mask on, better than a balloon because it doesn't lose air and slowly shrink.

Setting a scene
Making a Mad Scientist Lab is pretty easy to do just save some large jars! We just floated plastic body parts in colored water. Dragged out the old quack machines, you can find them at fea markets for about $150. It makes a nice gory scene!
ENJOY!
ENJOY!

Decorating for the Bar
I've found having something tall at the back helps it sets the scene and you can see it through the munchies and bottles. I've used fake pumpkins and faux grave stones for height.
Using some Halloween themed serving items makes it FUN too. Last year I found the Blooding skull punch set at Wal-mart for $25. Talking skull tray is a BIG hit. I've bought after Halloween all the glasses At Walgreens for about .50 cents, before Halloween they were $1.99. I've slowly collected more every year. The after season sales are a real deal! The next year you'll have a KILLER table!

Blood Punch Recipe for all you Vampires
Bloody Punch with Floating Hand
by Stella Zedman
Ingredients
3 cups (500 mL) cranberry juice
1-1/2 cups (250 mL) apple juice
1-1/2 cups (250 mL) grape juice
2 cups (500 mL) caffeine-free cola
1 cup (250 mL) frozen strawberries
Cooking Instructions
In a large pitcher or punch bowl, combine the cranberry juice, apple juice and grape juice. Stir, then refrigerate until you're ready to serve. At the last possible moment, add the cola, the strawberries and, of course, the Floating Hand of Death (directions below).
Floating Hand
In a measuring cup or jar, stir a few drops of green food coloring into some water — not too much, just enough to give it a slightly decomposed tint. Pour the greenish water into a disposable rubber glove (the stretchy kind — make sure it's not powder-coated inside) and tie the top securely. Place in the freezer for several hours or overnight. At serving time, peel the glove off the hand and deposit icy hand in chilled punch. Yum.
Servings: Makes about 10 servings.

Stir together the punch ingredients.
Un-glove the Hand of Death and add to the punch.
